Roman Catholic priest murdered while hearing confessions in Mexico

Catholic priest murdered while hearing confessions in Mexico

33-year old Roman Catholic priest, Father Juan Miguel Garcia has been murdered in the west-central Mexican state of Jalisco, the second priest killed within four days in the country.

He was performing the sacrament of penance when he was attacked by armed assailants at a parish in Tlajomulco de Zuniga, on the outskirts of Guadalajara, according to a statement from the Mexican Bishops’ Conference. The attack on Friday April 20th, took place immediately after the celebration of Holy Mass.

It was the latest in a series of attacks against priests in Mexico. Father Ruben Alcantara Diaz was attacked April 18 right before an evening Mass at Our Lady of Carmen Parish in Cuautitlan Izcalli.

On Saturday, the bishops launched an urgent appeal for a culture of peace and reconciliation. “These deplorable events call each of us to a deep and sincere conversion” according to the statement. We ask competent authorities  to shed light on this dramatic event and to take action according to the laws of justice.”

The bishops also appealed to the killers to “not only to lay down their arms” but also to reject “hatred, resentment, vengeance and all destructive sentiments.”  Attacks on clergy have become common in Mexico, a country that reached a historically high level of homicides last year.

According to the Catholic Multimedia Center, 22 priests have been killed in Mexico since 2012, when the six-year administration of President Enrique Pena Nieto began.

[Photos] Buhari Insult Now Taking Place as Harvard University uses Nigeria as a case study of a failed African country

Savage!?Harvard University uses Nigeria as a?case study of a?failed African country (Photo)

Once again. Nigeria has been 'disgraced' internationally after Harvard University gave to its students an assignment in which Nigeria was used as a case study of a failed African country.

The question Harvard University gave its students reads;
Africa is growing. Seven of the the ten fastest growing economies in the world are in Africa, and the continent's largest economies are becoming less dependent on extractive commodities. The continent's rising middle class has demonstrated a taste for consumer goods and technological innovation, and Africa's population-currently more than a billion people- is booming and overwhelmingly young at a time when populations in other regions are shrinking and aging.

Nigeria, sub-saharan Africa's largest economy, epitomizes both the promise and the problems the continent faces in the 21st century. The contry had failed to thrive for its first thirty years as an independent nation, despite having a developmental head start relative to countries like China and India, as well as hundreds of billions of dollars in oil revenue.. Now, after pathbreaking reforms followed by signs of retrenchment, Nigeria's new President faced both vast opportunity and grave challenges. Would the country flourish or founder in this new era? We will analyze key reforms in Nigeria's economy, significant political developments, and the choices facing the country's fast-growing private sector.

Why did Nigeria fail to thrive between 1960 and 1999, particularly relative to China and India?

How would you characterize former President Obasanjo's legacy?

Are you bullish or bearish on the next fifteen years for Nigeria? What would make you change your mind? What opportunities do you see? What are the challenges (and risks)

When a grown man acts like a kid, he gets treated like a kid - Runtown drags his label boss. Dilly on Twitter

The war between Nigerian pop star, Runtown and his enstranged record label, Eric Many led by Dilly Umenyiora keeps getting messier by the day.

Barely 24-hours after Dilly was invited for questioning by the Nigerian Police after a case of 'threat to life' was levelled against him by Runtown, the 'Gallardo' singer has taken to Twitter to drag the heck out of his ex-boss.

According to Runtown, 'when a grown man acts like a kid, he gets treated like a kid. And just Incase you are wondering how the police bursted you yesterday ,all your staffs work for me my nigga you don’t pay them. I do'.
